JUST SURVIVED

As exciting and nervechilling as it could be, it could have gone either way but the Indians took the magic catch to win the T20 Cricket world Cup. The whole atmosphere was so amazing that its really hard to express the moment in words but what I felt was that I just survived a HEART ATTACK.

The last two over were one of the greatest moments in cricket I have ever seen, I was literally on the edge of my seat, holding my head in my hands and praying for a mistake by MISBAH. Had it been a drop catch, who knows how many patients would the emergency could have to attend.

I remember similar nervechilling match between India and Pakistan in the 1992 world cup quaterfinals in India, Bangalore where an old man succumbed to heart attack!

Well...I am still not able to explain the entire feeling..but yet again I missed my stupid Brother. I wish you could be here to share it with us.

The IP Culture

Gosh! So much to write about today - IP, Cricket, Religion.... Let me Begin with some news of my college - IP College for Women, thats on the front page for protesting against molestation with college students by Aspiring Police Men.

Such an incident must be an eye opener for rest of the public and an alarm that the girls are no more safe in this beastly city of Delhi. Being in that college was a life time experience for me where we were not just taught our course books but also other facets of life and the science to deal with them.

I feel proud to be a part of IP, that has always kept low profile being out of the campus. And also being the first women's college of Delhi University, the college stands tall with its own vision and culture.

I am extremely happy that IP-ites have kept alive the tradition of intolerance against discrimination and exploitation of women the same since 75 years , and support the girls in their mission to abolish this evil from the roots and a stern action against the culprits who should be left to these girls for their punishment.

Bravo Girls! , thats exactly 'IP Culture'.

Forget it Folks

Yesterday I watched the Kundan Shah's bollywood classic 'Jaane Bhi Do Yaron'. I have watched it many time before some years back, but yesterday I watched it with a new perception.

Earlier, The movie for me was just a comedy movie with two jobless photographers trying to do silly things to please their editor Shobha. Now, I understood the irony behind this sattire, presented in such a magnificent manner by the director.

Every single character in this movies symbolizes a group or a part of our society. Taneja and Ahuja - the two competitors play construction contractors who are willing who can put everything at stake for their profit. Money is their God.

Commissioner Dsuza is a curropt government official who licks their feet for money but turns to the one who throws more bites at him. Other characters like Neeena Gupta and Satish Kaushik have enacted the roles of desperate people who have to bear every non-sense of their bosss to earn his trust and obviously money.

I was most amazed by the portrayal of Shobha, the editor of Khabardar magazine, who at the end also turns out to be a selfish lady, running for money in the name of social service.

The two heros symbolize our common man who tries to be faithful , sings 'We shall overcome', everytime he encounters a new problem, but is helpless at the end. The words by them ' kys Taneja ka koi kuch nahi bigad sakta...kya use koi nahi rok sakta' made me co-relate the situation of common people in the society who at last succumbs to a congression of all the currpot predators around them.

So..just forget it folks...

20 + 20 = 100

Twenty Twenty Cricket world cup began with a promise to give 100% entertainment to cricket lovers by reducing the overs and maximizing the excitement of a smash hit game.

Today its India vs Scotland, lets see what happens, Zimbawe beat Australia yesterday, lets hope that our Indian batsmen realize the importance of time and do not treat this as a test match.

Hummmm.....who will be the best at slamming the opposition? I have my stakes on Dhoni....

Ethical Journalism. Where is it?

Journalism or Press is one of the four major pillar of democacy as per the Indian constitution. The power to surface truth and fight for the democracy is a unique one, that is not available to all the citizens of the country.

When we were studying journalism, there was one book dedicated to 'Ethical Journalism', hope all the journalists have read the book. But as per todays's scenario , I hardly believe that anyone remembers it. Young journalists passing out from colleges are streaming the arena, where as being a learned, inlellectual, and having high level of thinking used to define a journalist irrespective of the degrees in their hands.

Five years ago, Jourlalism used to be an hounourable career, the moment u tell ur r a journalist, people used to respect you. But today, when I hear cases like the framed School Teacher Stning Operation, my hear bleeds for the freedom fighters who faught the independence struggle with their pens.

The job of a journalist is to bring out the truth and publish or present in an tolerable manner. But that doesnot mean hurting human sentiments and tormenting the viewers and the society.
It is so shameful that all the ethics have been taken over by a three letter acronym : TRP.

With respect to some original jourlainsts, I wish to see Journalism and truth as a true pillar of our democracy rather than pulling down our own respect.

The Itch of the Pitch

After a long time, I am itching to go home as early as possible and envying all those who have an off. That's because my interest in the cricket has just been rejuvinated during this Natwest season.

Finally Finally we got to see the Sachin-Saurab pair firing all cylinders. The last match reminded me of the days when I used to watch cricket with my brother. Our mother used to close all the doors and windows of the house, because the TV sounds were accompained by our shrieks and cheers as if our voices were going to the stadium directly.

Whats more, we were not allowed to sit on the bed while watching the game because we two togather used to jump like monkeys and poor bed had to bear it all. She would spread a Mat (chatai) and provide us with two pilows each.

Although my brother is not here with me to enjoy the match, i will miss him today but I plan to enjoy the match after a long time as I had totally lost interest in the game due to its poiticization.

I wish for a good game of cricket and pray for Indian Victory. A loss would be certaily dissapointing but an exciting game is what I am looking forward to.

Chak De!

As usual after boarding down from the Metro, I caught an auto on my way to home. Just beside me, an auto passed by; with three Boys and one of them letched at me with some lewd remarks.

I couldnot understand whom he was taking to; I looked at him again and he was once again poking his neck out of the auto and gazing at me. And I pounced upon the opportunity to tech him a lesson. I screamed on the top of my lungs "Auto Roko..Auto Toko" and the autowala stopped the auto in middle of themian road of Punjabi Bagh. Now..Traffic Jam..

I flagged out my hand and started a volley of abuses at the Boy, accompained by two other. all of them looked scared ans shocked as if they have seen an alien. One boy joined his hands apoligitically and immediately said sorry, "sorry behanji..galti ho gayi..arre sorry sorry"..repeated it 10 times.

But i was adamant on taking the cuplrit on my hands and start screaming "kya bola tha...bol kya bol raha tha tu"...he hesitantly said "madam time pooch raha tha". Unconciously I lost my temper and was sounding like i would kill them.

Me - "abe kya ghanta ghar samajh rakha hai jo time pooch raha tha..." All of them again in corus "sorry ji...galti ho gayi" and pleading in front of me to let them go.

Me- "chalo theek hai , lekin meri dobara nahi hona chahiye aisa..samjha...chal khisak le nahi to ye public ke hawale kar doongi". I let them off because they realized their mistake and immediately said sorry had he argued one word against me, he would have been in big trouble.

And they fled like a rocket with a fire in their tail. I am feeling quiet good and satisfied now...u know i used to ignore such people some times back..but now it really began taking a toll on my subconcious mind that how can i let go some one who hurts the dignity and honour of a woman.

I hope the three guys learned a lesson. So girls just get out with confidence and show your true worth..Chak De!

Finally The Heart Wins

Breaking news - "The Heart Wins Over the Brain"

The brain stops working and lets the heart do its job and go where ever it wants to. Balance / cease fire/ compromise is not the solution of this battle. Both the teams faught the battle till the last drop of blood and how can brain defeat the Heart when it comes to the blood circulation?

Obviously Heart always has more blood & ultimately life. So, the brain dies its death this time.

One wins and the other looses. This time its the Heart who wins.

Lets wait for the next battle.
